VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Navajo County Drug Project’s Volunteer Youth Program (NCDP-VYP) Mission: To reach, assist a transform youth, especially those whose lives have been affected or influenced by drugs, crime and violence. In collaboration with community organizations, NCDVYP aims to holistically improve the lives of high-risk children and youth to create healthy and safe neighborhoods in Navajo County.

NCDVYP Goals:

  1. Decrease youth involvement with crime, violence and drugs;
  2. Increase educational and vocational achievement among youth;
  3. Develop youth with strong family, moral and spiritual values;
  4. Mobilize the community an others to provide leadership, mentors and other resources to accomplish these goal.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Special Events: Administrative duties, staffing display booths, answering questions, making phone calls, imputing computer data, preparing mail, etc.
  • Grant Writing Assistance: Help to search for and write proposals for grants and other funding opportunities
  • Community Development: Building bridges with other community organizations, faith based groups, clubs and associations; attending events to cross-feed information and resources
  • Cross-Talk: Mentoring opportunities with youth and adults in crisis; emotional support—some training and criteria prerequisite
  • Life-Coaches: Face to face and phone/cyber contact to guide post-treatment citizens with social-reintegration. Life skills training expertise can be utilized on individual or group basis.
  • Youth-Coaches: Mentoring, tutoring and coaching to help motivate a youth. Summer opportunities exist for Junior Leadership Academy.
